Far Famed gaming is an online community that is made purely for woman's gaming. Breaking the game and changing the rules made in collaboration with BGG
Black Girl Gamers is a multi-platform age, and LGBTQIA+, inclusive online gaming community on Facebook of over 6,000 black women united in their love of gaming. Originally a Facebook group, it now has a community of around 50,000 followers on Twitch, Twitter, and Instagram.
It runs a Discord group with channels that cater to subgroups within its community and guest-hosts black female streamers on its Twitch channel. In its five-year life, it has put on a number of important events, like its Gamer Girls Night In and its recent online gaming summit sponsored by Twitch. Click the button to explore BGG.
Characters that embody most of the young female generation for black girl gamers. Making characters that they can relate to, that go through the day-to-day struggles of life. Both of these individuals have distinct personalities, as shown in their respective biographies on the Far Famed website.
The mood board above illustrates the thought process and inspiration behind my poster design. Shades enhanced the hand. I added other items to the poster for ample lightning from the controller to the hand, but it didn't make sense. It detracted from my message of uniting in gaming, everybody can play, and women are here. I originally experimented with adding PlayStation shapes. However, I liked how the controller fell back into the playstationverse, technology, and gaming community. Then the hand appears to take the controller connected to it. But the hand meant black girl gaming.
I originally had the term "Far Famed" on the left side, but famed took up too much room, so I moved it to the other side and moved the first part because it seemed like a beauty shop post. I wasn't sure about the type of colour, but black or white didn't work as well as pink. I borrowed BGG's backdrop colour. This graphic-led promotion still represented Black girls gamers.
